Tropical storm Elsa targets Florida
Tropical Storm Elsa is expected to move near the Lower Florida Keys and the Dry Tortugas on Tuesday after crashing into land in Cuba on Monday. The storm caused 180,000 Cubans to flee their homes, but there were no initial reports of serious damage. The National Hurricane Center said the storm is expected to hit the Florida Keys early Tuesday and then hit near or over parts of the west coast of Florida by the end of Tuesday and Wednesday. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis extended an existing state of emergency to a dozen districts. In addition to heavy rain, some tornadoes are possible on the Florida peninsula. The storm posed a new threat to rescue efforts from the condominium building that collapsed on June 24 in Surfside just outside Miami. On Monday, lightning forced crews to halt searches for victims and a water-filled garage area. Officials said. In the collapse, 28 people were killed and 117 are still missing, the authorities said.
NBA final tip with Phoenix and Milwaukee
Game 1 of the NBA Finals begins as the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks take the floor on Tuesday. The Suns, the betting favorites with home advantage, are contesting their first final since 1993. The final round of ranking preferences in the New York City Democratic primary is expected to take place on Tuesday. In the last census published June 30th, Eric Adams received 51.1% of the votes counted and Kathryn Garcia was second with 48.9%. These results were available a day after 135,000 “test” ballots were mistakenly added and then removed. In addition, this round of results did not include a postal vote, which left room for considerable momentum. No Democratic candidate won an absolute majority in the June 22 elections, so the ranking of electoral preferences will be redistributed as the candidates with the fewest votes in the first election are eliminated in a series of rounds. Chipotle is offering deals to vaccinated customers while officials continue to urge vaccinations
Chipotle Mexican Grill is the newest restaurant to encourage customers to get vaccinated. The eatery will be offering free burritos to buy, Eins-Get-Eins from Tuesday. The company’s promotion is part of National Vaccination Month, an effort by President Joe Biden’s administration to have at least 70% of adults vaccinated by July 4th. Despite admitting last month that the White House would miss the mark, Biden continued to press for Americans to get vaccinated. “My compatriots in America, this is the most patriotic thing you can do.” he said during a party on July 4th. “So please, if you haven’t been vaccinated, do it now. For yourself, for your loved ones, for your community. ”
