6 photographs killed in Colorado Springs after the shooter opened fireplace on the celebration

A gunman opened fire at a birthday party in Colorado Springs Sunday, killing six people before killing himself, police said. The alleged shooter is said to be the friend of one of the victims.

Colorado Springs police responded to a call at Canterbury Mobile Home Park just after midnight on Sunday morning. There they found six dead adults and one adult man with serious injuries who later died in a local hospital. The names of the victims were not published.

Police said the nameless suspect “drove into the residence, went inside and started shooting people at the party before he committed suicide,” but said they are still working to investigate a motive. None of the children at the party were injured by the suspect.

“There are no words to describe the tragedy that occurred this morning,” Colorado Springs police chief Vince Niski said in a statement. “As a police chief, as a husband, as a father, as a grandfather, as a member of this community, my heart breaks for the families who have lost someone they love and for the children who have lost their parents, officers who went to the shooting have reacted to the investigators who are still on site, they are all incredibly shocked. ”

Colorado Governor Jared Polis also made a statement on the “devastating” shootings, saying that his “deepest condolences and prayers go to the victims, their families and everyone else affected by this tragedy”.
