Baltimore officers shot useless: 2 officers injured and homicide suspects killed in gunfire close to a mall, police say

According to Harrison, Baltimore Police Department detectives assigned to the US Marshals Warrant Apprehension Task Force approached the suspect’s vehicle in the Security Square Mall parking lot Tuesday morning.

“At that point, the suspect got out of the vehicle and fired multiple shots at officers, hitting two of the Baltimore city detectives,” Harrison said. “Several officers returned fire and beat the suspect. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he has now succumbed to his injuries.”

The suspect was a 32-year-old man wanted for both murder and an arrest warrant, Harrison said. Harrison did not provide any information about the June 19 murder.

Harrison said the two officers shot were in stable condition.

“I am deeply grateful that both officials are vigilant and optimistic and wish them a full and speedy recovery,” said Mayor Brandon Scott, who also spoke at the press conference. “To build a safer Baltimore, we must hold violent criminals accountable.”

The incident is an ongoing police shooting investigation, he said.
