The final arguments are due to begin Monday in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, charged with the murder of George Floyd’s death.
Chauvin, who held his knee to Floyd’s neck for nine minutes and 29 seconds on Memorial Day, faces charges of second degree murder, third degree murder, and second degree manslaughter.
After defense attorneys and prosecutors have put forward final arguments in the high-profile trial, the jury is confiscated at its own discretion. Judge Peter Cahill gave them some packing tips on Thursday: “Plan long, hope short.”
On Thursday, Chauvin stated that he would not testify in his own defense.
