Emilio Lopez from Topeca Coffee Roasters will give the keynote speech at the conference on the topic of “Living with coffee grate”.

The statewide Hawaii Coffee Association (HCA) will host an informative two-day webinar featuring coffee industry executives, researchers and educators from June 24-25.

The event is a free resource for association members and the wider community.

In addition, HCA will host the 12th annual national coffee cupping competition, the winners of which will be announced in a virtual awards ceremony on June 25th at 5:00 pm.

Coffee is blindly bottled in three rounds using the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s rating system.

Emilio Lopez from Topeca Coffee Roasters will be keynote speaker at the conference “Living with coffee grate.”

Lopez, a seventh generation farmer, is the managing director of Odyssey Coffees, an agro-industrial organization based in El Salvador.

Odyssey Coffees operates a vertically integrated coffee business with companies in the US and Brazil.

Odyssey grows coffee from over a dozen farms, processes it and distributes it to roasters around the world who demand the highest quality.

Topeca Coffee Roasters operates two different roasters with cafes and a distribution in several states.

“2020 was the year of the COVID and coffee leaf grate” noted HCA President Chris Manfredi.

“2021 is the year in which we have the opportunity to successfully emerge from these complex crises.”

The webinar provides the latest information on a wide range of topics, changing trends and regulations.

“The coffee industry and the conditions in which we operate are changing rapidly.” added Manfredi.
