India has the world’s highest each day COVID-19 deaths after the state revised the numbers
India reported the world’s highest death toll from COVID-19 in a day at 6,148 on Thursday after a major eastern state revised its numbers to include people who succumbed to the disease at home or in private hospitals.
The Ministry of Health in Bihar, one of India’s poorest states, revised its total death toll from COVID-19 from about 5,400 to more than 9,400 on Wednesday.
The United States had 5,444 COVID-19 deaths on February 12.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in India is now 29.2 million after increasing 94,052 in the last 24 hours, while the total death toll stands at 359,676, according to the Ministry of Health.
