Jimmy DeLaurentis’ James Launches D2C Web site
Jimmy DeLaurentis’ new DTC website features bold, whimsical fabric samples for each of the pieces handcrafted domestically in Los Angeles.
PHILADELPHIA – Luxury upholstery and accessories brand James by Jimmy DeLaurentis launched an e-commerce-enabled direct-to-consumer website in response to the surge in online home furnishings shopping last year.
Powered by the leading e-commerce platform Shopify, the new website will encourage consumers to shop on social media so users can “pin” or save interesting items and purchase from the website. The new website adapts to the bold aesthetic of the brand and makes it exciting to the consumer’s eye.
The easy-to-use website features eye-catching, quirky fabric swatches to explore for each of the James by Jimmy DeLaurentis pieces that are handcrafted domestically in Los Angeles. Each item in the fully customizable upholstery product line is presented with a variety of textiles that allow the user to view the various textile options. Fabric and leather swatches are also available for purchase through the website so that consumers can review custom order specifications before placing an order.
In addition to the DeLaurentis collections, the website also features a curated collection of occasional items from the fashion-inspired contemporary home decor collection Interlude. DeLaurentis often uses pieces from Interlude in its work, which allow consumers to create the same design aesthetic in their home from a single practical resource.
“The demographic we’re targeting scans social media for information and then makes purchases online. So it was a logical next step to grow our business, ”said founder and eesigner Jimmy DeLaurentis in a press release. “Technology enables our new website design to be user-friendly and our products to stand out in a way that consumers really appreciate the style and quality. It includes our latest product launches in the luxury market, including the Milan Collection and our James Bear line of accessories, which we are very excited about. “

I’m Powell Slaughter, Senior Editor at Furniture / Today. I returned to the publication in January 2015 after spending nine years writing about furniture retail strategies and best practices in a monthly magazine focusing on home furnishings retailing. Before that, I worked at F / T for wooden furniture for 10 years, the last five of which as a suitcase editor. After my return to F / T, I developed reporting on the logistics and service aspects of the furniture industry as well as the categories of casual work, home office and home entertainment. In April 2018, I took over the upholstery category, with responsibility for the areas of fabric and leather furnishings as well as movement cushions, loungers and massage chairs.
