JSO investigates gunfire in downtown Hyatt

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at the Hyatt Hotel on 225 East Coastline Drive.

There are currently no details on suspects or victims. It happened just after 10 p.m. on Saturday night in a bathroom at Morton’s Steakhouse.

According to the officials, both victims have been taken to hospital and will be operated on. One victim is fighting for his life while the other is in a stable state.

Detectives add that a victim escaped and was found on the ground at the intersection of Bay Street and Market Street.

The officers are still in the early stages of the investigation but say a private party was held at Morton’s. They don’t know if someone from the party was involved, a guest in the hotel or a guest in the restaurant.

Investigators search surveillance videos to get a better picture of the shooter.

As a protocol for the situation, the hotel created a shelter. Investigators are trying to find out if the shooter knew the victims.
