Kathy Griffin reveals lung most cancers analysis and prepares for surgical procedure
Kathy Griffin announces she has lung cancer.
The 60-year-old comedian used social media to share the news on Monday, adding that she has never smoked.
“I have to tell you something. I have cancer. I’m about to have an operation to have half of my left lung removed, ”Griffin wrote. “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I have never smoked!”
She added that her cancer, which “resides in my left lung,” is Stage 1 and her doctors are “very optimistic”.
“Hopefully no chemo or radiation afterwards and I should be able to function normally with my breathing. I should be ready to go in a month or less as usual, laughing and talking, but I’m fine.”
USA TODAY has contacted Griffin’s representative for comment.

In her tweet, the Emmy Prize winner noted that her condition could have been more serious had she not been “fully vaccinated against COVID-19”.
“Of course I am fully vaccinated against Covid. The consequences of not vaccinating would have been even more serious, ”she added. “Please keep up to date with your medical examinations. It will save your life. “

Griffin said she was “definitely shocked” by the news in a clip from an upcoming “Nightline” interview that aired Monday night.

In July 2017, Griffin shaved her head in honor of her sister Joyce, who had cancer. Griffin later announced that her sister died in September.
