Kathy Griffin reveals lung most cancers analysis and prepares for surgical procedure

Kathy Griffin announces she has lung cancer.

The 60-year-old comedian used social media to share the news on Monday, adding that she has never smoked.

“I have to tell you something. I have cancer. I’m about to have an operation to have half of my left lung removed, ”Griffin wrote. “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I have never smoked!”

She added that her cancer, which “resides in my left lung,” is Stage 1 and her doctors are “very optimistic”.

“Hopefully no chemo or radiation afterwards and I should be able to function normally with my breathing. I should be ready to go in a month or less as usual, laughing and talking, but I’m fine.”

USA TODAY has contacted Griffin’s representative for comment.
