Syracuse, NY – Le Moyne Athletics is about to make a big change.
Encouraged by an innovative approach to its online presence as well as an aggressive social media strategy, coverage of the Dolphin Athletic teams will grow to unprecedented levels in the coming weeks.
In addition to the recently conceived marketing and multimedia partnership with Dan Tortora Broadcast Media, the sports department of Le Moyne announced on Thursday that it would drastically increase its offer from the current fall season.
With a talented group of students from the college’s communications department, the sports department has built its first creative services department. The unit will be tasked with developing compelling video and graphics content for use on all of the sports department’s online platforms.
Molly Walsh ’22, Sean Donovan ’22 and Cassidy Barrett ’22 will be tasked with content development, while Aly Blair ’23 will oversee content strategy and data analysis. Michael Smith ’21 M ’22 has also been added to the staff and will serve as an assistant in the department. While Barrett is the starting catcher on Le Moynes softball team, Smith returns as an outfielder on the Dolphins baseball team.
“There is an incredible amount of talent on this wonderful campus,” said Bob Beretta, Le Moyne Athletics Director. “We want to work with university leaders and use this talent to improve coverage of our great student athletes while showcasing the work of our skilled Le Moyne student population.
“One of the themes for our athletics department this year is standing up.” We want to improve every aspect of our operations. We believe these changes in our external operations area will produce significant results. “
As part of the major overhaul, Le Moyne’s sports information activities will be renamed Athletic Communications under the direction of Assistant Athletic Director Craig Lane ’07. James McGlynn, a recent Dickinson College graduate, has also been inducted into the team as assistant director, as has marketing assistant Brandon Grant. Diante Warner M ’22 returns as a research associate for multimedia services.
Specific Twitter Feeds and Instagram Pages for all Intercollege Pages are unveiled today and offer improved coverage of all Dolphin teams. The expanded content offering includes pre-game graphics and videos, in-game updates and post-game messages, notes and highlights. Biographies and photos of all Le Moyne student athletes will be posted on Le Moyne’s official sports website in the coming days.
“We are delighted with the enthusiasm our students have shown to support our online projects,” added Beretta. “We believe this new approach to our communication will drive all of our fans, followers and alumni to engage with our Dolphin sports teams and student-athletes like never before.”
