- McDonald’s will be giving a fan free fries for “a lifetime” or 50 years as part of its World Famous Fan Contest.
- Wendy’s is giving away free burgers as part of the Wendy’s Rewards program on Thursday, July 8th.
McDonald’s is renaming a popular deal day to celebrate the nationwide launch of its new loyalty program.
The fast food chain changed from National French Fry Day, also known as National Fry Day or Fry Day, to World Famous Fan Day on July 13th.
But McDonald’s restaurants will still ring the bell on Tuesday with free fries for members of the MyMcDonalds Rewards program, which officially launched nationwide on Thursday. Other restaurant chains are expected to continue proclaiming the holiday of Fry Day.
The Golden Arches also hosts a World Famous Fan contest where 66 fans win 1 million MyMcDonald’s Rewards points and one fan wins free fries for life, a prize worth $ 19,685.

Alycia Mason, McDonald’s USA vice president of digital customer experience and media, said in a statement that the chain has “the best fans in the world who deserve to unlock perks for their loyalty.”
“We are committed to repaying the longstanding fan base by giving them what they love most about McDonald’s – our delicious food – for years to come,” said Mason of the loyalty program and World Famous Fan Day.
Free fries for the world famous Fan Day
To get the free fries on Tuesday, you need to download the McDonald’s app, sign up for MyMcDonald’s Rewards, and add the medium fries offer to your cart.

Other fast food chains have also introduced loyalty programs and apps, and McDonald’s has offered savings on its app for years, including offers on free food.
With the updated McDonald’s app and the new MyMcDonald’s Rewards program, you will receive a free gift after your first purchase until December 31st.
After your first purchase you will automatically receive 1,500 points, enough points to receive a free item in the first level with your next order and you can choose between an order of hash browns, vanilla pods, a McChicken or a free cheeseburger.
Users also earn 100 points for every dollar spent on qualifying purchases. You can order in advance in the McDonald’s app or scan a code in restaurants and in the passageway to collect points.
The McDonald’s app will continue to have mobile offers such as coupons.
Free fries for life competition
This is not the first time McDonald’s has given an award that will “last a lifetime”.
In August 2018, McDonald’s hosted a McGold card contest that gave one winner two free meals a week for 50 years. The price was valued at $ 52,350.
The World Famous Fan Contest will begin on July 13th on World Famous Fan Day and will last until July 20th, according to the contest rules posted on MyMcDonaldsFanContest.com.
The main prize winner of the Twitter competition will win two medium fries per week for 50 years, according to the fine print. The $ 19,685 prize includes $ 5,905 which the winner can use for taxes or at their own discretion, the rules say.
There will be 66 regional winners, each receiving 1 million Reward Points, divided into four deposits of 250,000 points over two years. These winners will also receive $ 250 in taxes. The total prize value is $ 950.
To enter the competition, fans must tweet why they are the most loyal McDonald’s fan. Real super fans will judge the competition, the chain said.
“Your tweet must mark @McDonalds and contain the hashtags #MyMcDonaldsFanContest as well as a hashtag that consists exclusively of your two-letter postal abbreviation for your country of residence (e.g. #IL, #NY),” says the competition rules.
