Nas’ Mass Attraction hires Jessica Rivera as Normal Supervisor, Music and Jenya Meggs as Senior Vice President of Content material

Mass Appeal has announced two major executive hires.

Jessica Rivera will serve as General Manager, Music, while Jenya Meggs will serve as Senior Vice President of Content.

Both Rivera and Meggs will work closely with the company’s CEO Peter Bittenbender and co-founder, hip-hop legend Nas.

In this role, Rivera will oversee the creative and day-to-day operations of Mass Appeal’s music department; Labels, publications, and posts in Mass Appeal’s other two content and creative services departments.

Together with Sacha Jenkins, Chief Creative Officer of Mass Appeal, Meggs will lead program strategies and partnerships for Mass Appeal.

In her previous role as Head of Artist Relations for YouTube’s West Coast Area, Rivera’s accomplishments included directing a livestream-based marketing campaign that resulted in Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You ranking # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time landed time at all.

Rivera spent 11 years with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) where she was Executive Vice President / Head of East Coast Operations and Creative.

She also worked with songwriters / producers behind more than 25 chart-top singles, including Eminem ft Rihanna’s 12-platinum Love The Way You Lie and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ 11-platinum Uptown Funk ; and Imagine Dragons’ certified Diamant Radioactive (one of the best-selling songs in music history).

Prior to joining Universal, Rivera signed Rihanna to her first publishing contract, EMI, at the age of 16.

Before joining the Mass Appeal team, Meggs was Original Content Producer for Apple Music, where she developed the streaming platform’s Up Next New Artist Program.

Meggs also sold and produced the BET Web Series Brooklyn Blue Sky (2017) and the BET George Floyd Special (2020) as Executive Producer.

Prior to joining production and development, Meggs began her career in the video marketing division of Universal Music Group and later Warner Music Group.

She has directed the video marketing campaigns for GRAMMY-winning, multi-platinum artists such as JAY-Z, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Kanye West, Common and Jill Scott.

Last year, Mass Appeal worked on the development of the # HipHop50 platform to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop.

Both Rivera and Meggs will help lead the prosecution for Mass Appeal’s #HipHop50 program. Rivera will partner with Nas to oversee several original music projects aimed at celebrating the incredible history of hip hop.

In the meantime, Meggs will lead the content partnership with Showtime / ViacomCBS, which will include series and non-scripted features, podcasts and digital shorts.

Over the next six months, Mass Appeal will announce various partnerships for its # HipHop50 platform with companies in verticals ranging from original music, content, podcasts, live experiences, products, education, publications and more – along with a charitable component, that is connected to everything.
