New iPad Professional advert that includes a basic music from The Little Mermaid

There is currently an unlisted video on Apple’s YouTube page for a very clever iPad Pro advertisement with the song “Part of Your World” from Disney’s iconic animated film The Little Mermaid (via MacRumors).

In the ad, PC users sing the lyrics to the classic song while looking at their (naturally) ugly looking computer setups filled with peripherals and cables. (A woman’s leg is literally tied to her chair with string.) Often times, lonely, looking outside, where people happily using their iPad Pros to video chat, play games, and work, seemingly free from the awful boundaries of desktop computing.

Admittedly, the text fits an ad in which Apple is trying to prove that an iPad Pro can do everything a “normal” computer can do without things like a dedicated monitor or constant power supply. However, I should note that many of the iPad Pro users in the ad have additional accessories like an Apple Pencil or Magic Keyboard case paired with their device. Even in Apple’s own marketing, an iPad Pro is sometimes not enough.

Here are all the texts used in the ad, if you want to read along as you look. (For the Disney purists or those who grew up watching The Little Mermaid a thousand or so times like I did, you should know that Apple is skipping portions of the entire song in order for the lyrics to work better for display. )

Look at that stuff

Isn’t it neat

Wouldn’t you think my collection is complete

I wouldn’t think that I am that girl

The girl who has it all

Have a lot of gadgets and gizmosmos

Have Whositz and Whatzits galore

You want dingamobs? I have 20!

But who cares, no big deal

I want more

Up where they run, up where they run

Upstairs where they stay in the sun all day

Wandering freely, wish I could be I

Part of this world

The appearance of the ad follows the release of new iPad Pros in May, featuring Apple’s specially designed M1 processor and a brand new mini-LED display for the 12.9-inch model.
