Suspect in custody; I-15 is reopening close to Scipio after what UDOT referred to as a “police incident”.
SCIPIO, Millard County – A suspect is in custody and I-15 northbound near Scipio and I-15 southbound near Levan have reopened after a police incident, Utah Highway Patrol officials said on Wednesday evening with.
UDOT warned drivers after 8 p.m. that large delays could still be expected.
In a Facebook post, the Millard County Sheriff’s Office warned residents to keep an eye out for the man pictured above. The post said the man was armed with a rifle and was considered very dangerous. The sheriff’s office at the same post referred to the active police incident in Yuba State Park. Connection information was not immediately available.
The Utah Highway Patrol announced KSL TV’s Garna Mejia that a suspect has been found and taken into custody. Official identification is expected to come from the Juab County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 4:50 p.m., UDOT officials tweeted that all lanes of I-15 north near the Sevier River and I-15 south near Yuba State Park were closed due to a police incident. At 5:17 p.m., UDOT announced in another tweet to drivers that I-15 southbound near Chicken Creek and I-15 northbound near Scipio would be closed.
