Tyler Whitman reveals how he was solid on the present

Tyler Whitman’s “If You Build It They’ll Get Close” is what caught the producers of Million Dollar Listing New York and eventually got him on the show.

Whitman was a budding real estate agent in town and started a massive video marketing campaign. His Whitman Wisdom series is both spunky and informative – it’s so entertaining that those who aren’t looking for a home will want to watch his videos. Whitman’s positive attitude, coupled with humor, caught the producers’ attention and a phone call to do the show in 2018.

He made his way into 2019 and tried to grow his business while cameras followed him. “As you can imagine, I was on top of the world in 2019 when I found out I’d just been featured on one of the biggest reality TV shows in real estate history,” he said. “I felt unstoppable. My team was new. But the market sucked. “

In fact, Whitman’s entry into the series was when the market screeched to a halt. Realtors like Ryan Serhant seemed to be stressed out forever because properties that had previously moved had been standing for weeks or months. “You couldn’t sell an apartment to save your life in 2019,” said Whitman. “It was the toughest market I’ve ever seen.”

He remembered having offers and buyers, but no one took any steps. “I was like waiting a second, I’ll be right on TV and I’m building this business,” he said. Unfortunately, he couldn’t use his newly minted million dollar listing credit as a stepping stone for a business. “Yes, I found out I was on that TV show, but I signed all sorts of papers and I wasn’t allowed to talk about it,” he said.
